Mr. Hanif is currently leading the computational design efforts at Affiliated Engineers. The range of practice for this team is focused on (but not limited to) process mapping, application development and data analysis. Mr. Hanif is a technology enthusiast with a mechanical degree and is a registered professional engineer in multiple states.

In the current state of the engineering industry, “digital tools” that create and assess data have taken over how we were making decisions. However, the MEP engineering community has not been able to keep up with the technology and the direction the industry is going in. Mr Hanif’s goal is to help bridge that gap by increasing the drive for engineering companies to utilize data being created by these tools, in their everyday decision-making processes. Thus, helping the industry move forward into the future.

Mr. Hanif, with his team, recently competed at an industry hackathon event. The event was designed to have teams of MEP engineers and software developers create tools to maximize efficiency in project development. His team created a google map type utility router for HVAC duct work in a building, and took home first  prize for mixing multiple technologies together. In order to share his knowledge and expertise, Mr. Hanif has joined the Data Day Committee to assist engineering firms in understanding and being able to make decisions about utilization of these tools. He firmly believes that engineering firms should have a front row stake in these discussions, and lead the dialog on the MEP front, which has a lot to gain from the massive amounts of data being produced today.
