RTCAUS Speaker Profile with Mark Cronin

Mark Cronin

Mark Cronin – Peddle Thorp Architects

How many times you’ve attended an RTC conference (Australia and/or elsewhere):

“This is my fourth RTC conference”

What you do (not just your title…what you really do!):

“As an executive member of the management team and the Designs Systems Manager at Peddle Thorp my daily task list is varied and LONG!!. Innovation is a fundamental priority for Peddle Thorp so pressure is on me. A typical day may include researching new software and add-ins, developing BIM management plans, identifying opportunities to improve outcomes and resolving technical project issues. That’s all before I tackle my other commitments such as my involvement with industry committees including BrisBIM and Collaborate ANZ.”

What is interesting about what you do (what motivates you at both work and play):

“What isn’t interesting! What really inspires me is seeing improvements in the efficiency and quality of deliverables, and the look on newbies faces when they realise the power of BIM.”

Where you think design technology is headed in the next 3-5 years (or a more appropriate technology issue of interest to you):

“Hopefully the added value of technology will continue to increase and enable more visual engagement for clients, and this value will be recognised, leading to BIM implementation being driven from the top down!”

Why you attend RTC (what’s the business and personal motivation):

“Learning from, interacting with, and contributing to the great RTC community.”
